I'd recommend using an rsync daemon, if the network is trusted.
That eliminates any possible problems with ssh :-)
And it's more efficient. However the data is sent unencrypted,
which may or may not worry you. I have no qualms about doing that on our
company network where the servers are on their own VLANs etc. (no pesky
users that could manipulate switches to eavesdrop on traffic).
