[Dirvish] Backup strategy for a home computer

Hi everyone,

I tested dirvish for a while, and everything seem to work fine. So Im
thinking about how to use it for the real backup.

My biggest "problem" is that my computer is not running 24/7, so the
different expire-Rules seem to be a bit more complicated.

What I know is that

- it normally runs once a day, so I will run dirvish at boot time, and
I will get one backup per day
- I would like to keep Backups made on sundays/mondays longer than others
- I would like to keep one Backup of each month for 1 year

So I thought about it, and tried to test the sunday/monday thing:

> expire-default: +1 weeks
> expire-rule:
> #MIN HR DOM MON DOW STRFTIME_FMT
> * * * * 1 +2 weeks
> * * * * 2 +2 weeks

I tried dirvish --vault NAME --no-run, and it always said
"Expire: +1 weeks == ..."

So I tried this to see if I got the DOWs wrong:

> expire-default: +1 days
> expire-rule:
> #MIN HR DOM MON DOW STRFTIME_FMT
> * * * * 1 +2 days
> * * * * 2 +3 days
> * * * * 3 +4 days
> * * * * 4 +5 days
> * * * * 5 +6 days
> * * * * 6 +7 days
> * * * * 7 +8 days

But it still says: "Expire: +1 days == 2006-08-29 12:25:09".

What is wrong there?

And, how could I keep one backup per month for 1 year, if it is not
sure that the machine is always running on the first day of the month?

Thanks for your help,
OJ
